Important Notice: Removal of Two Horse Chestnut Trees - Meopham Green

Following a recent professional tree survey, we regret to inform parishioners that two of our long‑standing horse chestnut trees must be felled. We know how iconic and well‑loved our trees are within the parish, and this decision has not been taken lightly.

The survey identified significant structural issues that place the trees at high risk of failure. As a parish, we have a clear duty to protect the safety of everyone who uses our greens and surrounding roads. On the basis of the expert report and our obligations under health and safety guidance, we must proceed with their removal and applications have been made to Gravesham Borough Council.

We understand that this news will be disappointing, and we share in that sadness. These trees have been part of our landscape for many years, and their loss will be felt by many.

We will explore options for replanting in the Autumn.

Thank you for your understanding.
