Response from GBC: Incident on White Post Lane

We are writing with an update on White Post Lane Sole Street, which we have asked to be added to the Council’s website. See below:

The council are aware of a static caravan being bought onto a site in White Post Lane in Sole Street at around 7pm last night. Planning officers happened to be in the vicinity at the time and were able to witness the events that unfolded.

A report has been logged with Kent Police this morning, referencing the damage made to the road, verges and surrounding trees along White Post Lane. Kent County Council Officers have also been informed and are attending the site today to assess the situation.

You and residents may be aware that there is a long planning history on the White Post Lane site and the land is subject to a High Court injunction, preventing the use of the land by anyone for the siting of caravans or mobile homes. There is also a live planning appeal case, linked to an enforcement notice issued by the council.

The council is reviewing with legal colleagues whether further action can be taken at this time, alongside the reports made to Kent Police.

Please note we are keeping the public updated on this site and Pear Tree Lane via our website which should be updated shortly.
