Her Majesty The Queen: 1926 - 2022
Meopham Parish Council expresses its sadness at the news of the Queen’s passing. She has been a stalwart of public service in the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and the rest of the World, we are immensely grateful to her for the dedicated years of service she has provided.
Meopham was privileged enough to recieve a brief visit from Her Majesty in 1956 when she stopped at Meopham Station enroute to the Medway towns. There are several residents still residing in the parish whom had the honour of meeting Her Majesty.
Out of respect to Her Majesty, the Parish Council is now conducting the following actions:
- A book of condolence will be opened for members of the public to sign, it will be located at the Cricket Pavilion at Meopham Green and is available to sign from 9am-3pm Monday-Sunday until the Queens Funeral
- Floral tributes can be left on Meopham Green at the front of the Cricket Pavilion. We kindly request that all cellophane is removed. Floral tributes will be removed the day after Her Majesty’s funeral.
- The floodlights at Meopham Windmill have been turned purple
- A picture of Her Majesty will be on display at the book of condolence site
In line with national guidance, the Parish Council will cease to conduct Council meetings until after the funeral of Her Majesty.
The Parish Council wishes to send its deepest sympathies to Her Majesty’s family at this very difficult time
